How we research
How we compare equipment and explain the tradeoffs that matter when buying.
Sources and dates
When we publish a product dimension, we name where it came from: the manufacturer's spec sheet, the manual, or a written answer from the manufacturer. We also give the date we checked it, because specifications can change from one production run to the next.
Prices come with the merchant, the currency and the date we saw them.
When we don't know
If a figure isn't published, or we haven't been able to confirm it, we mark it as Unknown. We don't estimate dimensions from product photos. The fit calculator works the same way: if a number is missing, it tells you it can't give an answer.
How we compare
Our comparisons draw on manufacturer specifications, manuals and, where relevant, published reviews. We explain the practical tradeoffs and link to the sources behind our conclusions. Prices and availability can change, so check the retailer's current offer before buying.
Images
The drawings on this site are our own. Any photo we use is either ours or used with permission, and we keep a record of where each image came from. Captions say whether an image is a drawing or a photo.
Money
Some retailer links may pay us a commission. That doesn't change which products we include or what we say about them. See the affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
If you spot an error, please tell us. We check every report, and when we correct a guide we update its date and note what changed.
